Event Location: 70771 Leinfelden-Echterdingen, FILDERHALLE, Bahnhofstraße 61,

Filderhalle: In the Great Hall of the convention and event center with stage and gallery for over 1,000 people. The participants the ultimate conditions for beard styling are created. There are several rooms available for styling. Underground parking is available directly at the hall. For buses, there are special places on the FILDERHALLE. Terms and Conditions:

The WORLD BEARD AND MOUSTACHE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013 will take place according to the rules and regulations instead (see below) of the Association of German Beard Clubs (VDB).

For all participants, registration is required. The registration can be done shortly via online.

Application deadline: 2st November 2013, 11.00 a.m. *
* Latecomer and/or participants which are not members of a beard club can still register at the event day. All applications of the clubs must be available at this time.

 
The entry fee is 25 €

Without full payment no participation is possible.

All participants has to pass the preliminary jury between 9:00 and 11.00 am.  The participants of the freestyle categories has to show their beards already in competition shape during preliminary jury. Participants in classes where no aids are allowed, should not use any aids that day at least not until the awards ceremony.  Disrespect of this rule will lead to disqualification.


All participants will receive a certificate. The best three ones of each category will get a trophy.

The beard categories are in accordance to the current rules of the Association of German Beard Clubs (VDB). The description with illustrations can be found on the following page or by click on the link of the respective parent category.

For the first time a world champion will be awarded in the new category “Trend Beard”. This new category has been introduced during International German Beard & Moustache Championship in 2011.

This is Lino Gentile, the first winner in this category at the International German Competitions 2011

The 10 Commandments and conditions for participation in beard competitions according the  rules of the Association of German Beard Clubs (VDB).

Each participant has to pay on-site the entry fee. His chosen beard category has to be confirmed by the preliminary Jury.

Participants in classes where no aids are allowed, should not use any aids that day at least until the awards ceremony.  Disrespect of this rule will lead to disqualification.

The participants of each category will be presented together the jury who makes an open scoring. The jury is well briefed by the VDB.

The grading is between 5 and 10 points whereas half points are possible.

The points 10, 9.5 and 9, and may need to be evaluated in the sub-category will be awarded only 1 each.

The highest and lowest scores will be not considered.

The top three places has to be decided clearly. In case of same scoring a jump-off will happen.

Protests against jury decision are not common and leads to disqualification. Only the President of the VDB or his named deputy are allowed to complain against the jury.

All participants will receive a certificate. The best three ones of each category will get a trophy.

The participants of the beard contest agrees fully with the publication of images and sounds, and also agree with his person at the time the application and payment of the entry fee

Important notes:

Cosmetic aids are e.g.:  Mustache/hair wax, hair spray, hair varnish, hair gel, foam fastening etc. – Dyers are categorically not allowed on natural beards & moustaches.

Natural beards shall be and shall look natural. The more the better.

Essentially in all categories  unnatural or garish hair color is not allowed. Also face masks or thick make-up are not permitted. Beards are natural products and should not styled too much. The beard also should be in contrast to the head hair and not integrated.

Illustrations or pictures of freestyle classes were deliberately elided, as fantasy  and individual creation is the name of the game.
